Arizona Civil War Days
February 15 – 16
The North & South come together at Old Tucson, with encampments, battles and demonstrations, all weekend long! See life in the Arizona Territory during the Civil War, and re-live battles with the Battle of Golden Gate Peak. This exciting and educational event is presented by the Arizona Sonora Western Heritage Foundation and includes presentations and demonstrations from the Arizona Civil War Council and Southwest Living History Association.
You can also stop by the soldiers’ camps and visit with them about what life was like for soldiers during the Civil War, and learn more about their encampments. Make sure to catch the battle reenactments each day!
NEW this year: Meet the descendants of the Hatfield & McCoy families: Ron McCoy, Judy Hatfield, Jack Hatfield and Reo Hatfield! Learn about the real history of these feuding families and how they came to make peace with one another. There will be special presentations about the family history, the feud’s role in the Civil War and more! Plus, book signings and meet and greets! Saturday night at 5 p.m. will be a special Hatfields & McCoys Celebration of Unity event featuring entertainment, an interactive panel discussion with the family members, and the signing of a new Declaration of Unity. All those in attendance will be able to sign!
